Camera Obscura: Sweet Sounds

                              

In 1996, in the largest city of Scotland, Glasgow, the  Indie Pop band "Camera Obscura" was formed with the first members: Tracyanne Campbell, John Henderson, and Gavin Dunbar.

After a few years John left the band and other  musicians came, today the members of the band are: Tracyanne Campbell (guitar and vocals), Carey Lander (piano, organ, vocals), Kenny McKeeve (guitar, harmonica, mandolin and vocals), Gavin Dunbar (bass), Lee Thomson (drums), Nigel Baillie (trumpet and percussion).


A combination of indie rock - pop and experimental music is what characterizes this singular group, whose sound is similar to some other independent bands: catchy melodies, soft guitars, surrealistic instruments, xylophones, trumpets, violins ... something popular but always with a balance that makes them different. They themselves have said their biggest influences are The Rolling Stones and the French cinema of  80s and 90s.
Camera Obscura is a band that you should listen in a gray day, eating cake and dancing at a party in your apartment, a party where you are the main character and the soul of the party is still you, while the music is playing. In a nutshell, Camera Obscura is a private masterpiece, easy to digest and with a voice so soft that lets us  perform our activities peacefully.

Their most recent work "Desire lines",counts with a remarkable evolution and we are greatful to grow with it. Camera Obscura brings us one of their best sound repertoires of earlier times that we love, they make us fall in love, and yes , they keep us dancing like the most sophisticated and disheveled of the party.

En el año 1996, en la ciudad más grande de Escocia, Glasgow, se forma la banda de Indie Pop "Camera Obscura", con su primeros integrantes: Tracyanne Campbell, John Henderson y Gavin Dunbar.

Después de algunos años John dejaría la banda y entrarían algunos músicos mas, quedando la formación definitiva: Tracyanne Campbell (guitarra y voz), Carey Lander (piano, órgano y voz), Kenny McKeeve (guitarra, armónica, mandolina y voz), Gavin Dunbar (bajo), Lee Thomson (batería), Nigel Baillie (trompeta y percusión).

Una combinación de indie rock-pop y música experimental es lo que caracterizan a este singular grupo, cuyo sonido es similar al de algunas otras bandas independientes: melodías pegajosas, guitarras suaves, instrumentos surrealistas, xilofonos, trompetas, violines... algo muy explotado pero siempre con un balance  que los hace diferentes. Ellos mismos han dicho que sus influencias mas grandes son The Rolling Stones y el cine francés de los 80 y 90.

Camera Obscura es una banda que debes de escuchar en algún día gris comiendo pastel y bailando en una fiesta dentro de tu departamento, una fiesta solitaria donde el personaje principal eres tu y el alma de la fiesta sigues siendo tu, ellos solo amenizan. En pocas palabras Camera Obscura es una obra maestra privada, fácil de digerir y con una voz tan suave que nos deja en tranquilidad realizar nuestras actividades.

Su más reciente trabajo Desire lines, cuenta con una evolución notable y que agradecemos, nosotros crecemos a la par. Nos traen uno de sus mejores repertorios de sonido de épocas anteriores que nos encantan, nos enamoran y si, nos hacen seguir bailando como el mas sofisticado y desaliñado de la fiesta.
