Joan Rivers: The Queen is gone

Last thursday (September 4), an unexpected notice paralized the hearts of many: The 81 year old actress and comedian Joan Rivers passed away after a serie of complications during a surgery.

Joan Alexandra Molinsky (Born June 8, Brooklyn NY), started her career in late 1959 in Off- Broadway Productions, which are independent plays of the broadway concept in NY city.
In 1961 she joined "The Second City", one of the most famous comedy clubs in Chicago, and worked also as a comedian in a lot of cafes and clubs until 1965,
when she got invited to the famous t.v. program "Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" where she became popular because of her peculiar ways and her physical aspect. After 3 years appearing in the program, FOX gave Joan her own show called "That Show with Joan Rivers" followed by "Late Show with Joan Rivers (1986-1987)" and "the Joan Rivers Show (1989-1994)".

Her charisma and crudeness took her to the red carpet with "Live from the Red Carpet" from 1996 till 2004 (E!)  where thanks to Joan the question "Who are you wearing?" became popular.

Her most recent shows, part of E! Entertainment Television were: "Joan Knows Best?" a reality show where Joan, her daughter and producer Melissa Rivers and her grandson Cooper showed their busy and fun lifestyle ; and "Fashion Police" where she was next to Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic and George Kotsiopoulos every week showing the new trends and making hilarious reviews of the best and worst celebrity outfits.

the last episode where Joan Rivers appeared was on "Fashion Police" where she criticized and made jokes about the VMA´s and the celebrities outfits.

According to E! Entertainment TV, today Joan´s family and friends  gave her  the last goodbye, the meeting was at the Emanu El  Sinagogue  in NY.
Celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker, Michael Kors, Donald Trump, Whoopi Goldberg, Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta among others assisted to the funeral, plus other hundreds of fans who waited outside.

We all have a different perception of how Joan Rivers was, but I think at the end, she did what she wanted, to make people laugh and have a good time after all. She was definetly an icon, a strong woman who knew how to laugh of the hard times.

Rest in Peace Joan Rivers, this is very sad
